Now Playing Tracks

My lucky day! A wine thought as we head into the weekend.
Whilst taking one of my certification classes, I used to amuse myself and write down quotes that the teacher said about wine that usually didn’t have anything to do with what we were studying. I’m sure I will come back to these nuggets of quotes many times, But the one that I seem to repeat the most is when this teacher was talking about a pour of wine and how far it should be filled…anything past half way was “vulgar.”
Now I’m not talking about in certain nice settings such as a nice restaurant where you sit down to a nice meal or a nice wine bar that has 30 nice wines by the glass that this is true. However, c’mon, aren’t you a little excited when at a loud bar when the staff over pours for you? Or at home when you have a glass plus a bit to finish out the bottle? I thought so.
That’s when a vulgar pour is always appreciated.
PS Wine shown is one of my favorite “Big” wines from Best Cellars. It’s a Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles at $15.
