New York Wine Expo this weekend! →
This is a fun event to try a lot of wine from all around the world. My advice: Pace yourself and make use of the spit buckets provided. Otherwise you may find yourself escorted out of the Javits Center. Yes, I have seen this before. No it was not me. : )

findyourlegs asked: Hi Kirsten, thanks for your recommendations on Californian vino for my recent trip. I really loved the Ridge Zin blends and my big slurge was on a couple of bottles of Cakebread Dancing Bear Cabernet blend. Yum, Yum!

Wine Straws?! →
One of my favorite e-mails is The Daily Sip from Bottlenotes @bottlenotes, they were promoting this gadget last week…interesting, but I feel that this would only be for wine that you did not want to swirl around and savour in your mouth, letting your tongue taste all the tastebud goodness that your mouth has to offer. It’s really for drinking, not tasting. Right!?

Mondavi panel discussion at The New School →
I attended a workshop lecture at the New School last week that focused on Robert Mondavi (video link above). My very first visit to Napa in 1998 was highlighted by the excellent winery tour at Mondavi. The tour and tasting were perfect for a wine newbie and gave perspective on what a winery does, you always remember your first. : ) This particular panel was supposed to be about the Culinary...
